ROONEY: Lack of direction leaves spring fashion weak

It's hazardous to be in style these days. Witness the movie stars and models who stumble, while wearing the break-an-ankle platform or spike heels and risqué fashions in trip-over lengths paraded on red carpets at Hollywood awards and catwalks during spring fashion week.

"Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months," Oscar Wilde said.

Indeed, this season, it seems haute couture designers can't decide what era they want to imitate. Tribal prints and textured fabrics are trending alongside leather harnesses layered over gauzy, translucent tunics.replicalvhandbags Also in are backless and frontless (or so it seems) mermaid gowns that have sweeping fishtails. Hello … the reason the little mermaid didn't join the prince on shore was because she couldn't walk on her fishtail.diorhandbags A '40s revival of Dior's nipped-waist jackets with peplum-accented hips has reemerged as a Greek tunic belted with a flap of fabric at the waist. Egad! Raise your hands now: How many of us are trying to hide, cheapchaneljewellery not accent, bottomly figures? Sweet Peter Pan collars have returned from the '60s along with vintage apron dresses that are supposed to bring to mind wholesome Donna Reed housewives, but conjure up a French maid instead.

Speaking of the French, Parisian milliner Rose Bertin was the first designer to gain fame.womencanadagoosecoats Her career got a boost after she met Maria Theresa, archduchess of Austria/queen of Hungary. Maria Theresa had 16 children, so in an effort to get at least one of them out of the castle, she hired Bertin to give her rebellious 14-year-old Maria Antonia a makeover.hermesbirkinreplica Then she arranged the girl's marriage to an awkward teen from France, who soon became King Louis XVI.

Marie Antoinette, as she was known in France, dazzled the court in Bertin's elaborate designs with corseted waists, pannier-framed hips and deep décolletage, but Mama was appalled; she thought her daughter looked like a trollop and would make Mr. Blackwell's worst-dressed list — or worse yet.

At least she didn't wear a naval ring or have a safety pin through her eyebrow. As comedian Carol Hughes observed: "I didn't even know your eyebrow could fall off!"

The fashionable thing to do

Growing up in Cold Lake as the son of Lebanese immigrants, Amar Chehayeb didn't talk much about his passion for fashion.

His parents, who own a construction company and restaurant in the northeastern Alberta community better known for its military base than its fashion sense, expected him to become a doctor, or perhaps an engineer like his brother.

But even as a child, Chehayeb had a strong interest in women's fashion. "Every time I'd go shopping with my mom, I'd always be browsing through the women's clothing. She thought I was more interested in the mannequins," says the 24-year-old with a laugh.

"Now she realizes where it was coming from."

Chehayeb, who graduated last year from the fashion design program at George Brown College in Toronto, will be presenting his first-ever collection at Western Canada Fashion Week on Tuesday night.

Though he was born and raised in Cold Lake, Chehayeb carries with him a strong connection to his Lebanese culture and says it's a huge influence on his fashion sensibility.

"I love the richness of the lace, the beading, the handwork. There won't be any of that in my collection now, but that's what really attracts me."

Instead, his "mini-collection" of 10 pieces, which includes jackets, dresses, bodysuits and a gown, is inspired by the serpent, he says. It's clean and practical, mulberryhandbags with an abundance of black satin and snake-print fabrics in fitted silhouettes "that show off a woman's curves," yet are elegant and tasteful, he adds.

While a career as a fashion designer is "very frowned upon" for a man in his culture, most of the big-name designers in Lebanon are men, Chehayeb says.

"And some of the best designers out there are Lebanese.monclerouterwear"

Still, Chehayeb pursued a more traditional path at first, moving to Edmonton at 18 to take sciences at the University of Alberta for three years. He seriously considered a career in medicine or science before moving to Toronto to take fashion design.

"I just couldn't picture myself being in a lab for a career period of my life," he says. "I love the innovation of the (fashion) industry - It's more vibrant, young, fun and creative."

While his family was initially surprised at his career choice, they've come to be supportive and encouraging, he adds.

His father even offers suggestions and ideas for designs, says Chehayeb. "It's hilarious. There's this show called Style on the Middle Eastern, Lebanese channel and my parents always make sure they watch the fashion segment of it." He laughs. "Then they call me up and they tell me what's going on."

Chehayeb says his love of beautiful clothes and rich fabrics must come from his grandmother, who used to do a lot of sewing. "I've just always been infatuated by the luxury of garments and how it basically transforms a person, wearing a great piece. It's an art in itself, especially the couture branch of the fashion industry."

Lebanese culture puts a lot of emphasis on esthetics and personal style, cheapcanadagoose he adds, goodchloehandbags much like the French culture.

While he draws inspiration from nature, architecture and sculpture, his artistic influences are far more Middle Eastern than North American, he adds. "Even in my days at school, when I was illustrating, cosmeticbagfactory they'd say, 'your artistic style is different than Canadian style,' which is weird because I was born here, but I've been influenced through the blood."

Two-wheeling women welcomed

What do you call a group of more than 50 women, a showroom of motorcycles, four mini informational sessions and a passion for two wheels?

A great time, that's what!
Trev Deeley Harley-Davidson, located in Vancouver at Boundary Road and 2nd, recently hosted their 12th annual Women's only Garage Party.

What is the Garage Party? It's a night where women who ride, who are looking to start riding or who are currently riding on the back but are transitioning to be the captain of their bike can get together, educate themselves about motorcycles in a no-pressure environment and just have fun.
That's exactly what I had when I attended the event.

As all of us gathered in the conference room for the evening to start, the group dynamic was quite diverse. There were women of all ages and backgrounds. Some had never sat on a Harley (or any motorcycle), and some who had returned again because the event is something they look forward to.
Despite age differences and life experiences, there were smiles all around. The desire to learn and enjoy the evening along with the company of others was quite prominent.

Holliday Ascroft heard about the Garage Party when she came to Trev Deeley with her boyfriend to buy a new helmet. She is in the process of obtaining her full motorcycle licence, and currently rides a Yamaha Virago.monclerjacketswomens

Her reason for attending?
"I wanted to learn a little bit more about motorcycles but in a more intimate environment. And the no pressure on making sales also really helps," she said.

Trev Deeley general manager Darwin Osarchuk echoed the statement that graces the entrance of the showroom, which says, "It doesn't matter what you ride, just as long as you ride."
The philosophy definitely holds true, as there were a few women in attendance who currently own different makes and models of motorcycles.

There were four 20-minute tutorials held.
One was regarding the various families of bikes Harley-Davidson offers. We were able to sit on all of them and try them on for size. Furthermore, it was pointed out that the various models and styles can be custom fit to your specific needs. Should you want to adjust the handlebars or the pedals, the HD technicians are able to help with maximizing rider comfort while cruising around.

Another session focused on riding gear. Various jackets, helmets, hermesbirkinreplica gloves and so forth were pointed out so women know they have options.
I had the opportunity to get to know another first-time attendee, miumiureplicahandbags Lizann Hirsche.

When chatting, she mentioned, "There were certain aspects of all the sessions that were educational, but the Jump-start was my favourite."
That tutorial allowed attendants to sit on a Harley and actually shift their way through the gears. The bike was stationary and positioned upright, so you couldn't actually move forward or drop it.

Most of the women who tried it had never done it before. And for Lizann, who is used to riding on the back of a bike, it was quite thrilling. She took to it naturally.pradahandbags
Of the four mini informational sessions, my personal favourite was learning how to pick up a dropped bike.

At first, I was a little apprehensive. After all, replicalvhandbag a fallen Harley weighs in at close to 225 kg (500 lbs.). I really wasn't sure if I could do it. I felt as though I should have been taking crossfit classes prior to attempting this manoeuvre.

It's not just about looking good

BOLD, bright and full of character. That's the only way to describe the 46664 apparel.

We're not talking neutral-toned Mandela batik shirts here. The brand is much more youthful and fashion-forward. Layered in what might be termed a "rainbow nationesque vibe", it's full of colour.

46664 fashion is an extension of the brand and aims to help sustain the brand.

"We want to be able to invest in social community programmes and compete against global brands," said Wayne Bebb, authenticsunglasses the CEO of Brand ID. The fashion label 46664 belongs to Brand ID.

Bebb said 7 percent of the current turnover went towards three initiatives: the Mandela Day Libraries, entrepreneurship, and a future project with the foundation's Centre of Memory.

This means that, regardless of any profit made or a lack thereof, 7 percent is guaranteed.hermeshandbags Sixty percent goes towards the manufacturing, sustaining and building of the brand.

Barbara Tosalli is the brain behind the women's wear.

"The target market has no colour. It's for the woman in her late 20s who has found her footing and is starting to embrace herself. She works hard and plays hard as a strong, independent and creative South African woman," she said.

Tosalli is part of the design team with Craig Native and Chris Vogelpoel.
The brand is going international as well, with the designers off to the US next week.

"We want the people who buy into the brand to know and be proud that it is an investment channelled into social benefit and giving back," said Bebb.

North Olmsted's Brian Rector wins 400th career match and B-W Stays Unbeaten With 9-0 Win Versus Otterbein

"To be able to win 400 matches takes the hard work, dedication, determination and efforts of a lot of young men over the past 23 years. Outstanding, talented student-athletes make a coach look great, and over the years, I have had the opportunity to coach many great, young student-athletes. The Look: Two mates bring jeans to the people

The idea was simple. Create a no-nonsense denim label featuring simple cuts, washes and fits at an accessible price. That was the seed friends Nathan Brown and Andrew Kahofer planted last June over their morning caffeine fix.

Fast forward almost one year and their idea has borne fruit. In February the duo launched McQueens Denim out of a pared-back store in Greville Street.

"We're the evolution of the denim revolution," Kahofer says. "We're trying to bring back easy-to-wear denim with clean cuts and colour options. Nothing over-the-top or over-priced – the way denim was intended to be."

It's certainly not over-priced. For high-quality denim that's sourced from Japan, authenticsunglasses imported and designed entirely by Kahofer and Brown, monclerouterwearthe $99 price tag across ralphlaurenpolo the range is extremely palatable.shoppingbagfactory

"We're a small, lean, well-drilled operation, which is why we can offer such a great price," says Brown, a former Richmond footballer. "We are bringing back denim to the people and making it accessible to all ages.laptopbagfactory"

Brown is no stranger to the clothing industry, having launched the now successful T-shirt label Blackbyrd five years ago.

His aptitude for fashion is evident in McQueens Denim's first range, a variety of denims, colours and styles, including twill stretch chinos, skinny and straight leg jeans, which share rack space with denim blazers and rock star jackets.

The collection is a result of "years and years of wearing denim and knowing what works and what doesn't," Brown says.

Come May, they'll launch McQueens Denim's women's line and begin preparing for their push into the United States and United Kingdom markets.

So where did they get the name? "We both love the original Steve McQueen: he was a rock star without a band and with a great name," Brown says.

How Howard Pew's Vision Gestated Rick Santorum -- and Lessons for Progressive Philanthropy

Recently, a friend posted on facebook a Clay Bennett cartoon that captured the puzzling religious nature of the Republican platform -- at least as it has been developing in the 2012 primaries. In the cartoon a woman is strapped to the "USA bed" and a priest seems to be doing an exorcism wearing a GOP embroidered stole. The woman cries out, "I distinctly asked for an ECONOMIST."
In the 2012 Republican revival of a certain religiosity in politics, Rick Santorum and his ilk are but the new incarnations of the kind of right wing evangelical conservatives that Howard Pew loved. Of course, both Pew and Santorum hail from Pennsylvania. Pew, an inheritor of the Pennsylvania based Sun Oil Company,Our canadagoosecoat look, work and feel exactly like the originals. and a significant philanthropist, took a religious cast in opposing the jobs and other welfare programs of FDR's New Deal. Pew believed that "... Welfare-state-ism, Marxism, Fascism and any other like forms of government intervention ..Find deals on monclerouterwear1 at great prices.. antithetical to the teachings of Jesus,SocialPicks is tracking the performance of diorhandbags . to our American way of life and to the dignity of the individual." And he spent his millions promoting just that vision.
Santorum is embodying this old philanthropist's view against "state-ism" and offering again "Spiritual mobilization." Pew even railed against the "social gospel" believing that religion was only about faith and not about social issues.
Rick Santorum is probably the greatest beneficiary of these tumbling walls so far. The court has formally declared that churches can receive federal funds -- imposing religious beliefs in a previous secular partnership between charities and the government. And now with Citizens United, it empowers Rick Santorum's theocratic views and give nonprofits significant means to lobby. The end of the divide between education and advocacy and political action that prevailed so long is here.
The right is running with this new understanding. Progressives needs to get off their butt and out of their self imposed straight-jackets. President Obama, at least, has said he will not unilaterally disarm -- and he's finally off to the races with SuperPACs.
The progressive charities, for the moment anyway, should take what the Court has given them: we can use advocacy, whether religious or political, in our activities. I think we have not only our own progressive wealth holders but a majority of small donors who helped finance the Obama campaign -- and will do so in the new money regime. Olivier Zunz argues in "Philanthropy in America" that the majority of the Supreme Court believes that this is a necessary condition of freedom in a strong democracy. If progressives don't adopt to this new playing field -- at least in 2012 -- well then Santorum and the theocrats will change our democracy in ways too awful to contemplate -- and we have only ourselves to blame.

WOMEN'S NCAA TOURNAMENT: Lady Jackets routed in Sweet 16

Baylor was cruising, the Lady Bears' reserves were waiting to check in and there seemed to be little excitement.
Then Brittney Griner got behind the Georgia Tech defense and everyone in the arena knew what could be coming.
Baylor's 6-foot-8 All-American didn't disappoint.
Griner threw down a two-handed dunk to cap a sensational performance and the Lady Bears stormed into the NCAA regional finals for the third straight year with an 83-68 victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday.
Griner, who finished with 35 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks, took a pass from Brooklyn Pope and soared in for her dunk with 6:29 left in yet another rout for the Lady Bears — swinging briefly on the rim for good measure.
"I wanted to get one in this game," said Griner, who was almost nonchalant about her crowd-pleasing play. "Brooklyn got me the ball and I just went up and slammed it."
It was the second straight game in which Griner dunked and the seventh slam of her college career. She's now tied with former Tennessee star Candace Parker, whose two dunks in NCAA tournament play had been the most.
"Even though she dunks in warm-ups all the time, in the game it's just something that automatically just gets us fired up and really excited," Baylor's Odyssey Sims said. "I think we get more excited for her than she does for herself."
Destiny Williams added 18 points on 9-for-10 shooting for the top-seeded Lady Bears (37-0), who'll play second-seeded Tennessee in the regional final on Monday night, the winner advancing to the Final Four.
Baylor, the 2005 national champion, will be seeking its third Final Four appearance and second in three years. Tennessee, which has won eight titles, will try to get to the national semifinals for the 19th time.
Though her team was hopelessly behind at the time, Georgia Tech coach MaChelle Joseph didn't feel Griner was rubbing it in with her dunk. Heck, she thought it was cool.
"It doesn't bother me," Joseph said. "I think she's great for the game. I think it's awesome. Nobody wants to get dunked on, but how many people can actually say I coached in a game where a female basketball player dunked?"
Baylor took control with a 20-0 first-half run and never gave fourth-seeded Tech (26-9) a chance to answer. Sharp-shooting freshman Sydney Wallace led Georgia Tech with 32 points.SocialPicks is tracking the performance of diorhandbags .
Griner dominated with her scoring (13-for-18 shooting), rebounding and intimidation on defense. Then came the dunk, which put Baylor up 77-46 — and even the neutral fans stood and roared their approval.
A few seconds later, during a timeout, Baylor coach Kim Mulkey took Griner and the other starters out,Our canadagoosecoat look, work and feel exactly like the originals. giving the crowd another chance to salute the game's most dominating player.
"There's no doubt that Brittney Griner is definitely the best player I've ever coached against, I've ever seen play live," Joseph said. "She's a tremendous talent on both ends of the floor. But I thought their complementary players, Destiny Williams in particular, had a huge game for them, especially in the first 10 minutes of the game."
Georgia Tech made the round of 16 for the first time and came in with nine victories in the last 10 games. The Yellow Jackets showed they were serious about competing early as Wallace, who scored 51 points in the first two rounds of the tournament,Find deals on monclerouterwear1 at great prices. hit a 3-pointer in front of the Baylor bench and dropped in a high floater over Griner that put Tech up 10-6 and forced a Baylor timeout.

TEAM GB KIT LAUNCHED AND CRITICISED

This week saw the highly anticipated launch of Stella McCartney's GB Olympic kit, she is the first fashion designer in the UK to be chosen to create the Oympic kit. Being no stranger to sportswear though, having eight previous years creating a hit "performance" range for adidas, it was no great shock to hear that the 40 year old designer was to be appointed as Creative Director in charge of producing the kit.
McCartney's own acclaimed women's wear label, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, has at its heart an ethos of comfort and ease, with even the most elegant and refined pieces made practical with sporty elements.See the top authenticguccihandbags from the best brands in the industry. And the kit itself was no different; "This is about the athletes and Team GB. I didn't want to put a big fashion statement on it" McCartney said of her designs. And beyond the cinched, belted waists and layered, voluminous jackets there is little fashion to it. Collarless zip-ups and streamlined shapes recall classic, even nostalgic, sportswear,Jewellery and replicahandbags stolen in Framlingham. while calm and tonal blues look modern and dynamic. What McCartney has done is create Brand GB, by deconstructing the Union Jack and adding it, in abstract chunks.IWC watches are warranted by our authentichandbag for a period of one year. I wanted to make the kit a bit lighter and more airy. I wanted it to really stand out."
But with any redesign, reshape, or readjusting comes criticism. During the process of deconstructing the Union Jack McCartney replace the St. George red with turquoise, instead injecting red along collars, around cuffs, and shoes.New travellingbagfactory at discount prices from SwissLuxury. This is the main focus of the criticisms with a university professor from Durham going as far as to say that scientists have long shown that athletes perform better in red colours arguing that the predominance of blue could work against the team. A little drama queen-esque if truth be told!
McCartney used her Twitter page to respond to the critics this morning saying: "I see many feel as strongly about the Union flag as I do! The design actually uses more red & shows more flag than any Team GB kit since '84".
The British team aren't the only Olympians who will be stylish during the 2012 London Games, the Team USA kit was designed by Ralph Lauren and the Italian Olympic team has their sporting and formal wear kits created by Giorgio Armani. Looks like the running lanes will be more like runways in London 2012.

Store's an attraction for buyers, sellers

Cleaning out her closet gave Detra Hagerman the idea for a new retail store in downtown Fredericksburg.
As the entrepreneur and Realtor with Coldwell Banker Elite weeded out gently used or never worn clothing and accessories, she realized she had the makings of a resale shop.
"I thought,Intensify your own Grace with ralphlaurenhoody. ‘My gosh, I can't be the only one out there,'" said Hagerman, who supports recycling.
Inspired, she recently leased the former Deborah's Place at 726 Caroline St. and opened The Boutique at Caroline Street, a resale shop specializing in higher end women's and men's wear. Its tag line is, appropriately enough, "Turn Your Cluttered Closets into Cash!"
Unlike consignment shops,I had to say that the news of laptopbagfactory promotion. The Boutique buys items outright instead of taking them on consignment. Hagerman considers that a win–win for customers and the store. They know up front how much they can get—plus 20 percent more if they take store credit. And Hagerman and her staff don't have to mark items down on a strict timetable.
"It's less labor-intensive," she said.
Hagerman makes offers for items by appointment on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. She prefers designer and boutique items that are no more than 3 years old, and they must be in good condition.
"Tomorrow I have 10 appointments and I can't wait," she said recently. "Every time I open a bag, it's like opening a treasure chest. It's just fun. This is my fun job."
The labels Hagerman looks for range from sportswear by Nike, Under Armour and Liz Claiborne to boutique clothing from Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic and White House/Black Market to such couture names as Chanel, Gucci and Louis Vuitton.
She also buys gold and silver jewelry, designer handbags and other accessories, upscale or trendy home décor items and small, well-made furniture.
"When I was putting the store together, I was asked if we would carry men's clothing, so we have a section that has suits, ties, dress and casual shoes, pants, jackets and overcoats," Hagerman said. "That's a little slow going because people don't know we carry this so we don't have much traffic."

Nedohin goes into curling worlds as the favourite

When Heather Nedohin's Team Canada foursome takes to the ice tonight at the Enmax Centre for its opening game in the Ford world women's curling championship, Canadian fans will see a Maple Leaf on the players' jackets.
But for the 11 other teams that Canada will be trying to fend off to earn a gold medal in the March 25 final, that Maple Leaf takes on a distinctly different shape — that of a bull's eye.
Ignore for the moment that no Canadian team has won the world women's title since Jennifer Jones in 2008, or that just three of the past 10 world champions have hailed from Canada.
For better or for worse, Canada is the gold standard when it comes to curling. And Nedohin, third Beth Iskiw,This was a fraction of cheapcanadagoose1 in Beverly Hills. second Jessica Mair and lead Laine Peters had best be prepared for this simple fact of life: there's no team that other countries want to beat more than Canada, especially IN Canada.
"I mean, I love Canada. The following are some of the steps included in buying parkaforcheap. I love the Canadians," said Scotland coach Gordon Muirhead, whose daughter Eve is skipping the Scots. "But, I love nothing more than beating them in curling. And that's because they're the best. We know that. We have good teams in Europe, but we just don't have the strength and depth that Canada has. But, as in any sport, they can be beaten. In fact, we probably wouldn't feel that we achieved anything if we hadn't beaten Canada along the way. It just makes it feel that much better."
The challenge of dealing with the eagerness to knock the Canadians down a peg or two begins tonight when Nedohin's Edmonton team takes on Allison Pottinger of the U.S. at 7 p.m.
Based purely on international experience, Team Canada shouldn't be favoured in Lethbridge. Nedohin hasn't represented Canada since 1998; Iskiw did it a year earlier as a junior. "There are a lot of really great teams around the world, and they all seem to bring their best to play Canada. Every game is a challenge," said Jennifer Jones, who has a gold and a bronze in four world championship appearances. "It's always wonderful to be Team Canada, and it's a privilege, but it's never automatic that Canadian teams should win the gold. The rest of the world is just too good. And I think that's good for curling, too."

Schools in far-flung locales, E.J. King, Matthew C. Perry and Robert D.In Style Accessories collecting discountwomencanadagoosecoats to donate to shelters. Edgren no longer had to go longing for competition against their Kanto Plain brethren; they each now have full-fledged schedules in football, volleyball, tennis, cross country, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, track and soccer.
Problem is, the weather sometimes is uncooperative and the calendar always is, at least where tennis, baseball, softball, track and sometimes soccer are concerned.
Purely by chance, the last two weekends have proven to be rain magnets. Heavy rain, sideways rain, the sort of rain that settles in and keeps up all day or all weekend.
Two Kanto Plain track and field meets got called off 17 hours before they were to begin on Saturday, an international-schools meet at Tokyo's Kinuta Park and a DODDS all-comers meet at Camp Zama. This, a week after a combined Japan schools practice meet at Zama got almost completely washed out, except for a few running events. Guess the meet organizers didn't want to take a chance after that March 10 washout. Wise decision.
Baseball and softball were completely out of the conversation on March 9-10 at Zama. What are some new goodbackpackfactory coming out in 2009? Perry, King and Edgren did get in some boys and girls games at Yokota, Zama and Nile C. Kinnick on Friday, but Saturday's action was a wash. Soccer matches did get played at Sasebo, where E.J. King's fields are turfed, and at Iwakuni, where Perry's match organizers got creative in clearing the field; more on that later.
It's an exercise in frustration, especially since most weekends are filled, wall to wall, with long-haul matches on the schedule. It's 360 miles from Tokyo to Misawa, some 560 miles to Iwakuni and 780 to Sasebo. It's much easier to reschedule Kanto Plain matches, when the schools are so much closer. It's nigh onto impossible to reschedule DODDS Japan sports events of most any type once postponed. Worse, there are fewer options for the outlying schools, where international schools are fewer or more distant than in the Kan-to and Japanese schools have their own leagues.
Squeegees are normally associated with tennis courts when rain turns hardcourts into skating rinks. Mark Lange,IWC watches are warranted by our canadagooseparka for a period of one year. Matthew C. Perry's boys soccer coach, continues to make creative use of the court driers on a different sort of court – the soccer pitch.
From 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Lange and his star striker Tyelor Apple, among others, wielded Squeegees to clear off enough water from Lake Perry (Lange's nickname for the school field when it becomes waterlogged due to heavy rain) so that Robert D. Edgren and the host Matthew C. Perry Samurai could play, albeit on a shortened field. The two schools teed it up, then played a mix-and-match game as the two sides used each other's players in a friendly match.Trade Leads for fakerolexwatches, Search ecplaza.net for buying and selling leads,

Changing of the guard

At Paris Fashion Week, I've been serenaded by Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz, served champagne at Hermes and seduced by Chanel's giant crystal palace at the magnificent Grand Palais monument to la Belle Epoque.
Then there were the metal detectors at Haider Ackermann.my wife's gift for my mom was monclerouterwear1 .

A first–Islamic fashion staged in Manila

Islamic fashion is no oxymoron. As the recent Islamic Fashion Festival (IFF) staged in Manila showed, there's more to Muslim dressing than the traditional abaya, chador and even burka.
The collections of seven designers, including the Philippines' JC Buendia, Jun Escario and Veejay Floresca, were noteworthy for their wearability, craftsmanship, variety and sophistication.
Organized by Malaysian Raja Rezza Shah, IFF was established in 2006 to create, in Shah's words, an understanding between Muslim and non-Muslim countries that Islam isn't about terrorism. To break this stereotype, Shah, with support from the Malaysian government, has staged the festival yearly beyond such Islamic cities as Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Dubai, to include New York,New bestchloehandbags at discount prices from SwissLuxury. London and, more recently, Manila.
"IFF is not even about promoting a religion, but creating an understanding and breaking certain stereotypes about Islam,In Style Accessories collecting ralphlaurenpolo to donate to shelters." Shah said. "And we can do this not through bombs and bullets, but through fashion shows. If you want to change certain perceptions, do it the gentle, beautiful and shiny way."
To make the show more exciting for the host city, Shah includes the works of local talents, with those of Malaysian designers. The recent gala presentation at Hotel InterCon Manila's grand ballroom included the works of Malaysian designers Tom Abang Saufi, Syaiful Baharim, Melinda Looi and Bali-based Italian Milo Migliavacca.
The by-invitation-only dinner was hosted by RJ Ledesma, Marc Nelson and Malaysian Bernie Chan, with Malaysian-British actor-singer Stephen Rahman-Hughes performing.
"Filipinos have always been very talented, very special," Shah said. "Mixing Muslim with non-Muslim designers is the whole idea. We want to show the world that Islam isn't limited to Arabs. It belongs to everyone regardless of race and culture."
Neutral and tailored
Buendia was inspired by his favorite style icons Jackie Kennedy and Princess Diana to produce a collection of neutral and tailored separates, beaded jackets, tunics, cigarette pants, circle skirts and peplums. If you remove the black headscarves, sweaters and leotards, the collection is as Western and contemporary as Buendia's trademark pieces. Despite some uncharacteristic juxtapositions, including flowing skirts with slim pants, his was easily one of the evening's most cohesive and sophisticated collections.
He may have chosen black as anchor for his collection, but Floresca, the youngest among the Filipinos, made it more fun and colorful by mixing it with painterly and modernized batik prints inspired, he said, by artworks at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Escario evoked red-carpet glamour in beaded,This was a fraction of ralphlaurensweater in Beverly Hills. draped and clingy long dresses with contrasting matte and shiny elements. Obvious requirements such as long sleeves hardly limited the designer—he worked around such limitations by making the clothes more fitted, for instance.
Like Buendia, Escario used dark clingy sweaters and leggings for added cover-up. None of the designers, including the Malaysians, covered the faces of female models. Several designers presented men's pieces.
Islamic fashion is fashion that adheres to Islamic values, said Ng Yen Yen, Malaysian minister of tourism. With all of the discountcoachhandbags sales rampant. Although cover-up is a given in Muslim women's fashion, Ng said that there are various ways to cover up.
"What we're trying to tell the world through these shows is that it can also be beautiful, colorful, brilliant, graceful and wearable just like any other fashion."
Malaysia aims to project to the world a more moderate brand of Islam, which advances "peace and progress," she added.
Accomplished Filipino women
The show was restaged the next day over lunch in the same venue. To help with the groundwork, Shah taps the support of locals. Here he collaborated with such accomplished Filipino women as Tingting Cojuangco, Doris Magsaysay-Ho, Tina Ocampo and Fortune Ledesma.
"The purpose of this show is to create an understanding between cultures," said Ho. "It gave them a different perspective about Muslims."
Events like this, Ho added, are important for countries like the Philippines with considerable Muslim presence. The show also honors the country's Muslim population.
Ocampo was amazed at the collections' range, variety and wearability.
"If you take out the stockings,Our replicalvhandbag are the highest quality and most durable replicas available . long sleeves and sweaters, you're left with very credible pieces you can wear almost anywhere," said Ocampo. "Each designer presented his or her unique point of view, which made the show more special. I'm proud of what our Filipino designers did."
Over breakfast with the Malaysian ambassador to Manila early this year, Ocampo and company were asked if they could help Shah mount the show here. The women readily agreed.

The Top Three Fashion Trends for Spring

This season's runways seemed designed to pique the interest of both historians and fashion lovers alike. The Spring 2012 collections featured nods to classic details from past decades. Flapper dresses and gold-chain embroidery adorned catwalkers at Gucci, embracing the glamour of the 1920s, while Louis Vuitton showed tweed and lace dresses in beautiful pashe will have to go to confession if she accepts authenticjackets .stel pinks, yellows, and blues, recalling Grace Kelly in 1955's To Catch a Thief. Fast-forwarding a few decades, the runways of Altuzarra and Stella McCartney saw clean, simple shapes reminiscent of sporty '90s power dressing. Sleeveless crewneck cocktail dresses and separates illustrate that strong shoulders and toned legs are timeless and sexy accessories.
Miss Manners
"I'm so excited 'pretty' is back in style," says Marina Monroe, owner of Stylehaus, a members-only Melrose Place boutique that pairs clients with stylists who help them develop their dream wardrobes. Adds Monroe, "The 'New Look' pioneered by Christian Dior more than 60 years ago is back—in shades of soda-shop pastels.Flashing bright green contact lenses and canadagoosejackets ." In addition to the pretty pale hues at shows including Louis Vuitton and Marni, the '50s look hit a high point at Prada, where models clad in cinched-waist eyelet skirts and chiffon dresses with Cadillac prints ruled the runway. And pumps accompanied it all: The platform heel is a thing of the past, replaced by outrageous shapes and daring stilettos.
Game On
Varsity athletes won't be the only people donning tennis whites this spring. Athletic-inspired fashion—from pleats to neoprene—filled the catwalks en masse, keeping with the trend's fundamentals of clean lines and bold, sharp colors. Formfitting silhouettes—seen in Stella McCartney's structured minidresses—highlight toned shoulders and long legs, while Altuzarra's all-white body-conscious dresses take a more subtle approach. "Hussein Chalayan is using neoprene in so many of his designs, from evening gowns to miniskirts," says Desiree Kohan, owner of Des Kohan boutique.IWC watches are warranted by our authenticlouisvuittonhandbag for a period of one year. Thirst for bottled water strong despite prices: Nestle

And even though commodity prices have moderated, those increases are here to stay, said Kim Jeffery, president and chief executive of Nestle Waters North America, at the Reuters Food and Agriculture Summit in Chicago on Monday.
"They're not going to come back down. This industry has been operating at substandard margins for the last five years due to all the competitive desire to gain market share," Jeffery said.bestvalentinohandbags
Over the last decade, bottled water prices have fallen 35 percent, Jeffery said, christiandiorreplicahandbags as a host of companies, including Coca-Cola Co (KO.N) and PepsiCo Inc (PEP.N) fought their way to prominence with inexpensive offerings that pressured the whole category.
Yet in the face of unprecedented commodity cost increases last year, Nestle Waters raised prices on its regional water brands and its value brand Nestle Pure Life by about 30 cents per case, or about 10 percent. That was the first increase in a decade for the company, which sells a billion cases of water a year.
"We led the category in that and we suffered for a little bit at the hands of some people who took advantage of that for a few months," Jeffery said. "We went from positive to negative for a few months."
Still, the business ended 2011 with revenue growth of about 4 percent, Jeffery said. He said 2012 was off to a good start as well. He does not see further price increases on the horizon.
Commodity prices that prompted the price increase have stabilized, though they remain at "nosebleed levels", he said.
Nestle Waters' biggest purchases include resin to make plastic bottles, cardboard and plastic for case packaging and bottle caps.
It sells 15 different water brands including Poland Spring, Perrier and San Pellegrino.
Jeffery sees the potential to build a stable of bottled tea brands as well.monclerjacketswomens The company already owns the Sweet Leaf and Tradewinds brands, and will start selling Nestea in the United States next year following the dissolution of a joint venture between Nestle and Coca-Cola.
Jeffery said there could "possibly" be room in the portfolio for other tea brands as well.
"I think there's still another place to occupy in the category. I think there's an opportunity to do more," Jeffery said, declining to elaborate.
Jeffery is picky about the categories he wants to play in.
"Bottled water has done so well in my opinion due to the absence of negatives.1northfacejackets...I'm pretty much in the camp of, 'I want to sell healthy beverages to people'. I think the connection for tea is an easy one, miumiuhandbags especially green tea," he said.

Wife wants to get rid of husband's shirt

About a dozen years ago, before it was intolerably cliche, my husband bought a long-sleeved T-shirt with lettering that read “got beer?”
He's normally a sharp-minded, sharp-dressed guy, a middle-aged but hip engineer who's really, really into beer. So when he found this T-shirt and had to have it, it seemed harmless enough. He could putter around the house in it–where else would he wear such a thing? Let me tell you. He's worn “got beer?” to restaurants, to dinner at family and friends' homes, fine shops, art museums and galleries, and, most recently, to a rather fancy wine tasting.
It's not that I'm oblivious when we leave the house; it's that I am distracted with the dogs, the things we have to bring, and my own appearance. In Style Accessories collecting burberryhandbags to donate to shelters. He's also a sneak, hiding “got beer?” under nice sweaters and jackets, then shedding them later to reveal what lies beneath. How ridiculous. But it makes me furious every time.
To my dismay, “got beer?” has held up remarkably well. Never have I seen a T-shirt retain its color, fit, and lettering as well as this one. It's unnatural is what it is, as if it's protected by some freakish beer-lover voodoo.

The Baroque hall replete with gilded accents

The Baroque hall replete with gilded accents, tapestries and a frescoed ceiling hinted at the richness to come.
Bejeweled and regal, Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi womenswear recalled the royal courts of centuries past with an emphasis on gold-laced brocade and iridescent velvet.Find deals on hermeshandbags at great prices.
The pair stayed close to their architectural style, building their dresses and tops out of panels in a sort of triptych - back, front and sides - that allowed them to mix textiles and colors.
The tops often resembled bustiers, and finished in short bubble skirts.
Here, as elsewhere on the Milan runways, the slim cropped pant was a mainstay, paired with swing coats with large shoulders, or double-breasted knee-length jackets, for a contrasting silhouette.
Fittingly, their color palette bears the name of jewels: ruby, emerald, sapphire, along with citrine, topaz and turquoise.
The pair let their imaginations run wild when it came to decorating the collection.
Tiny wisps of feathers covered a cocktail dress with sequined flowers - everything in black. Stiff golden bows graced the back of a coat, the sides of a dress. Beaded Byzantine crosses ran down the sides of a short dress.
The shoes also reflected the level of detail the designers put in. Velvet pumps and knee boots had large bows on the back, while brocade booties had velvet tips and silk ribbons. You can find all the laptopbagfactory you need here.
