A 13-year-old former Port Perry girl suffered 37 knife wounds when she was attacked in the bedroom of one of two people accused of killing her, jurors heard today as the first-degree murder trial got under way in Brampton court.
While instructing the jury, Justice David Corbett said many of the wounds sustained by Aleksandra Firgan-Hewie were serious, including two to her neck that, on their own, could have caused death.

The judge added there's no dispute that Rafal LaSota, 27, of Clarkson, is the killer.
"Mr. LaSota killed her," he said.
Corbett added LaSota committed the killing in his bedroom.
